Orange Juice
Have I mentioned yet how impossibly delicious the fresh orange juice is here? See juice is a big thing here in India, as you can find fresh-squeezed juices on the menu at most restaurants and the juice bars which are everywhere. And of course there is every kind of juice imaginable - pomegranate, watermelon, mango, and my favorite... the orange juice. Now I know what you're thinking: "You come all the way to India and have all those gourmet juices on the menu, and you want to order some plain old OJ?" Rest assured I am not as crazy as you think (no really). The OJ here is oh so different. Let me explain: anyone out there like Mandarin Oranges way more than the HEB Florida variety? Yeah, me too - b/c they're so much sweeter! Well imagine a tall glass of juice which I can only describe as pure Mandarin orangey guilty goodness... mmmmhhhmmmm... and I don't even think they are "Mandarin oranges" per se. Dude they are better than that - they must be some local variety. I think they're magic. Whatever they are, I'm hooked. My name is Rob, and I'm an orange-a-holic. You can get a glass for about 17 rupees, which is an unbelieveable deal on any States salary (I'll let you get on google and do the math). Yup. I'm quitting my job - I am going to import these oranges to the States and make a bundle setting up shop. It'll be huge at all the health bars too. Even better, I'll find a way to spike it with all the usual OJ cocktail recipes, right along with my plan for Monster energy drink... wait... I just had a vision of a tequila sunrise made with this stuff...
I gotta go...
Oh yeah - the juice is good, but don't get it with ice during your first few weeks. The ice is from the local water, and the local water is kind of magical too...
