God save the Queen!

Okay - I think I found out the real why I was so sick - I should've realized it sooner - I simply hadn't been drinking enough beer! :D See after I got over the fever I then proceeded to come down with this insane allergic reaction to I don't know what, but I do know it was annoying as hell. I was sneezing about every 10 seconds, eyes watering, the whole gamut. So this was going on all day until I met these three exceptionally cool Brits (Dave, Emma, and Ann-Marie) and proceeded to rack up a tab at this little restaurant called the Bay Leaf tucked away down the street from my apartment. Yeah I was sitting there chowing down on some delicious chicken entrees (I was stocking up on good, clean protein since it seems to be so hard to find during the week given my work schedule - so I was having two chicken appetizers and one chicken entree - it was bliss), when all of a sudden one of these Brits invites me over for a drink (which of course I gladly accept), and next thing you know - presto! Beer and tequila work just as good as Tylenol Allegry/Sinus! So meeting those guys was excellent - holding a conversation was a trip since I had to translate all their slang - "stag-do", "get on the blowa", "quid" - good times) We exchanged numbers and I hope to catch them later this week to go "get pissed" - they also mentioned a the local race track (go-karts) here that's supposed to be awesome - one of the best things to do on the weekend - so I'll have to check that out before I leave...

As for why I'm up this early (it's about 6:08 AM here) - I'm meeting one my the guys I'm working with to take a trip to the province of Mysore today to see the Maharaja's Palace and the temple there - apparently it's a long drive, but I know we'll have lots of business to talk about on the way. I should be there most of the day and will post the pics asap thereafter. By the way, this site doesn't hold my pics at their full, awesome size. So if anybody out there wants me to send them a ginormous TIFF file (liek 10-11MB, so make sure your email can handle it) of anything on here, just let me know - you can see more detail that way.

Aha - and there's my wake up call (in case I wasn't already up) - every morning around this time you can here singing over a megaphone outside my window. I think it's coming from a construction site next door which is surrounded by little huts where the workers sleep on-site, but maybe it's coming from the neighborhood - can't tell for sure. Anyway I was curious as to what this was, and I think now that it's the "ezan", which is basically an opening for Islamic prayer times (anyone feel free to correct me here) - they are singing it now b/c there is a Muslim prayer made before the sunrises called the "Fajr". I also understand that one of the final lines translates to "prayer is better than sleep", so I guess that means "wake up!" Soon after you will begin to hear the sounds of hammers tapping and work beginning at dawn. I'll try to find out if I'm right on this one, but I'm pretty sure I am. Anyways, peace out! - Rob
