Everybody likes to write about bloodthirsty barbarians...

Posting some pics from Sunday – most of these are from the Lalbagh Gardens, which is one of the many gardens which give Bangalore the epithet “Garden City of India” (dang I sound like a tour guide). But I can attest that this is a good name as the people here take a serious interest in their landscaping; even at the ITPL tech park - where you’d normally expect the usual stifling concrete and glass of the corporate world - the landscaping is very impressive. People are manicuring those gardens daily.

Anyway I could sit here and try to fake the funk by pretending to be an expert on Lalbagh, or I could just attach this link -> http://www.bangalorenet.com/abtblr/lalbagh/History.htm, post my pics, and cut the jibba-jabba. Glad we’re all on the same page there.

I also took a few photos of the lookout tower located on a hill next to Lalbagh. This is one of four towers that Sultan Tipu placed around the city to give his soldiers the best vantage point to scope out those rabid barbarian hordes on the warpath and give everyone ample time to panic before the impending slaughter… yup. Okay I have no clue what I’m talking about – I don’t even know who the Sultan’s enemies were. But you take any ancient history class and get an essay question on why empire XYZ crumbled, and of course you’re supposed to cite the usual economic crises, internal strife, bat-shit crazy dictators, and decadent debauchery – but it’s a sure bet there was some roving band of ferocious renegades involved too. That’s just the way it goes. And which one is more fun to write about?
